GTA 6: what to check before you buy

Before spending money on a game, console or accessory, write down what you already own and what you actually need. A countdown should help you plan, not pressure you into a purchase.

1. Match the platform to your hardware

The official GTA VI page lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as of 28 September 2026. Do not assume compatibility with another device. For a physical purchase, also check whether your console can read that disc format.

2. Read the exact edition contents

Compare the items listed in the seller’s description. Check whether the offer includes the game itself, which format it uses, and whether any extras are physical items or digital content. A collectible product name alone does not answer those questions. Save the description and your receipt so you can refer to what you ordered.

3. Check your region

Use the storefront for the country in which you intend to buy and play. Read any region or account restrictions on codes, vouchers and additional content. Compare the final checkout total, including delivery, rather than only the headline price.

4. Separate delivery from release day

A release date is not a delivery guarantee. Check the retailer’s dispatch estimate, collection arrangements and cancellation terms. For a digital purchase, look for platform-specific download and unlock information when it is published.

5. Wait for verified technical details

This guide does not establish an install size, frame rate, PC specification or preload time. Check current official specifications before buying storage or upgrading hardware. Keep some flexibility in your budget until the information relevant to your purchase is available.
